The draw for the group stage of the 2026 World Cup takes place this Friday (5) at 2pm (Brasília time) in Washington, the capital of the United States. The 48 teams participating in the World Cup will be divided into 12 groups according to the draw. The best teams in the world, as per FIFA’s rankings, will be involved in the draw. The FIFA World Cup draw utilizes a ranking system to determine the seeding for the teams and their positioning in the draw. Each pot contains 12 teams. The first pot includes the three host nations – United States, Mexico, and Canada – along with the top nine ranked teams including Brazil. Pots 2, 3, and 4 follow the same logic, with teams placed based on their FIFA rankings regardless of their continent.
