According to sources, the government may announce the formation of this commission in the coming weeks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the formation of this commission on January 16, 2025, just before the Delhi Assembly elections. The government has finalized the terms of reference, scope, and the names of the chairman and members of the commission. Once the commission’s recommendations are implemented, they will come into effect retrospectively from January 1, 2026.
