2025 TF asteroid passed just 300 miles above Earth, closer than the International Space Station, without being identified until hours later. The 9.8-foot (three meter) rock flew over Antarctica on October 1. The European Space Agency (ESA) mentioned that ‘Objects of this size pose no significant danger.’ Subsequent observations allowed scientists to determine its exact closest approach at 01:47:26 BST. While the asteroid did not cause any harm to Earth, this close call highlights the challenges in detecting asteroids.
