Aadhaar New Rules: Government Introduces Stricter Regulations for Verification

The Indian government is preparing to introduce new Aadhaar regulations, which will prohibit hotels, event organizers, and other institutions from taking physical photocopies of Aadhaar cards. This move aims to eliminate the storage of paper-based Aadhaar verification, which is not only against the law but also poses a significant privacy risk. UIDAI has approved a new framework for this initiative, requiring organizations to register with UIDAI before conducting offline Aadhaar verifications. They will then be able to use either a QR code or app-based verification. UIDAI CEO, Bhuvanesh Kumar, confirmed the approval of the regulations, which will be officially implemented soon.
