Agam Rinjani, the volunteer who rescued a Brazilian body, talks about climate and dream of planting trees at COP 30

Agam Rinjani, a volunteer climber who rescued the body of Brazilian Juliana Marins in Indonesia, is currently attending COP 30 and has been warmly welcomed by the Brazilians. He mentioned, ‘Many people took photos with me on the plane. 70% of my followers are Brazilian. They comment on my activities every day. I love you, Brazilians.’ Rinjani became known in the country after the tense days during the rescue of the Brazilian, expressing his joy at being able to visit Brazil. At COP 30, he expressed his interest in learning more about the program proposed by the Indonesian government to protect the local forests. According to the climber, the country is already feeling the effects of climate change. ‘Before, in Indonesia, you knew when it was going to rain or not. But now you can’t tell anymore, precisely because of climate change and how global warming affects the forest,’ he warned. He emphasized the need for all governments to work together to protect the country’s forests. Following his participation in COP, he mentioned his plans to learn more about the Amazon, purchase climbing equipment, and return to Indonesia to continue his work, whether in rescuing people or helping the environment. ‘I want to plant trees,’ he expressed.
