Azerbaijan’s army will be transitioned to NATO standards, President Ilham Aliyev announced, as reported in the APA agency’s Telegram channel. In this context, he highlighted the role of expanding Azerbaijan’s relations with NATO countries. Additionally, Aliyev emphasized that as the army transitions to bloc standards, Baku closely collaborates with the Turkish army.
In August, the Azerbaijani leader stated that the country’s armed forces must be constantly prepared for war, considering the unpredictability of global events. He noted that in recent years, the number of special forces has significantly increased, and new commando units have been created. ‘The guarantee of our security is ourselves, the state, the people, and our armed forces. Therefore, if anyone gets the idea to provoke Azerbaijan, I think they will regret it once again,’ Aliyev added.
