Amanda Wanessa’s husband assaults father-in-law at hospital in Recife

A family dispute involving gospel singer Amanda Wanessa’s husband ended in physical assault at a private hospital in downtown Recife. Dobson Santos, the artist’s husband, was filmed kicking his father-in-law, identified as Odilon, during an argument that took place last Thursday (31). The case is being investigated by the Elderly Police Station.
In the footage, Dobson is seen arguing with his sister-in-law, who is recording the altercation. He then kicks his father-in-law. A slap is delivered by Odilon to stop it, and Dobson retaliates with a kick. The fight is interrupted by other people at the scene. The incident occurred in the hospital ward where Amanda Wanessa is hospitalized. According to the singer’s parents’ lawyers, she needed to be urgently taken to the hospital.
In a statement, the singer’s family’s legal team stated that Amanda’s parents and sister were prevented from staying by her side at the hospital by Dobson’s order. Despite the seriousness of the clinical condition, the family members were asked to leave the premises. The statement also emphasizes that it was the parents and sister who had been by Amanda’s side during her more than two years of previous hospitalization, following the serious accident she suffered in January 2021.
Dobson denies acting violently and claims to be the target of a defamatory campaign. In a note, he wrote, ‘Edited and out-of-context videos started circulating on social media. The dissemination of these images, without my permission, represents a serious violation of my rights.’ He mentioned that he has taken legal action against those responsible for recording and sharing the content and stated that he will seek legal recourse to restore his image.
Since Amanda was discharged to continue treatment at home in 2023, disputes between Dobson and the singer’s family have escalated. Amanda’s parents even took legal action, claiming they were being prevented from visiting her. At the time, Dobson denied the allegations. The singer has been in a vegetative state since January 4, 2021, following a car accident on the PE-60 highway in Rio Formoso, Pernambuco. The accident resulted in multiple traumas. Amanda was hospitalized for 642 days and was discharged in October 2022 to continue treatment at home.
The lawyer Leilane Andrade stated that the singer’s father filed a police report at the Elderly Police Station. The Civil Police of Pernambuco was contacted but did not comment.
