Defender Éder Militão was tested as a right-back and could be the main novelty in the Brazilian national team against Senegal on Saturday at 1 pm (Brasília time). The rest of the team is expected to maintain the formation with four attackers, but no center-forward — the tactic worked well in the 5-0 victory over South Korea. Throughout the week, coach Carlo Ancelotti tried to establish a base for the first FIFA match. The team is likely to play with Ederson; Éder Militão, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, and Alex Sandro; Casemiro and Bruno Guimarães; Matheus Cunha, Rodrygo, Estevão, and Vini Jr. Defender Wesley also trained in the right-back position, but the makeshift center-back is likely to be the starter. The full-back positions are the most uncertain for the 2026 World Cup: in the current call-up, Carlo Ancelotti also has Paulo Henrique as an option on the right side. On the left, three players were called up: Alex Sandro, from Flamengo, who is expected to start; Caio Henrique, from Monaco, and Luciano Juba, from Bahia, who received his first call-up.
