Fossilized remains of a long-snouted crocodile-like reptile were found in Egypt’s Western Desert by paleontologists from Mansoura University. Named Wadisuchus kassabi, this ancient crocodile species roamed the earth approximately 80 million years ago, measuring between 3.5 to 4 meters in length. This well-preserved fossil is crucial in unraveling the evolution of the Dyrosauridae, a crocodile group distinct from modern species. Notably, Wadisuchus kassabi is considered the oldest known member of the Dyrosauridae group, offering valuable insights into their development.
