The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on October 30 that a man from China has died in an immigration detention center in California, suspected of having a seizure and, after being taken to the hospital, could not be resuscitated. ICE stated that the situation has been reported to the Chinese Embassy in the United States. According to ICE, the deceased, named Xie Huabing, was pronounced dead at the El Centro Regional Medical Center in El Centro, California, on September 29 at 3:15 p.m. He was being held at the Imperial Regional Detention Facility in Calexico, California, after entering through legal means with no criminal record.
