Aprilia’s Striking Guilt Feeling About Márquez’s Injury: ‘It was us…’

Marc Marquez has had a very challenging end to the season. The Cervera rider became world champion at the Japanese Grand Prix, a remarkable tale of overcoming adversity after recovering from shoulder surgeries. However, Marc aggravated that area again after a hard crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix, leading to surgery and ending his season, fortunately with the title secured. It all happened in an incident with Marco Bezzecchi, an Aprilia rider and third in the championship this season, at the start of the race in Mandalika. Months later, Massimo Rivola, head of the Venetian team, admits feeling guilty about what happened to Marc. ‘I still feel sorry for him; it was us and Marco who took him out of action,’ Rivola said in an interview with ‘Mow’. Marquez couldn’t participate in the pre-season Valencia tests.
