Aquarium of the Pacific to Open Sea Turtle Rehab Area in 2026; Joining Zebra Shark Conservation Effort

The Aquarium of the Pacific was bustling with activity on Monday. In addition to introducing their new president and CEO, Jeffrey Flocken, the Long Beach aquarium shared news about two exciting projects. One of these initiatives involves the establishment of a sea turtle rehabilitation area adjacent to the Molina Animal Care Center, which will enhance existing turtle rescue efforts. Funded by various organizations, the facility is set to feature a 4,000-gallon enclosure and specialized equipment to aid in the care of sick and injured turtles. Although initially projected for completion in 2024, officials now anticipate finishing the facility by 2026. While not a typical exhibit, visitors will have the opportunity to observe the rehabilitation center’s residents through a viewing window.
