For the past few months, children in five Southeast Asian countries – Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia – have been experiencing the devastating impacts of typhoons, floods, and storms. According to United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) spokesman Ricardo Pires, more than 4.1 million children in the region have faced education barriers due to climate-related disasters. Displaced, drinking unsafe water, and watching their parents struggle to rebuild their lives multiple times, these children are unable to attend school for weeks on end.
