The ‘Border Physical Security System Project’, launched by the Presidency and coordinated by the Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Provincial Administration and Border Management Department, has been monitoring the Turkey-Iran border in the Ağrı region since 2020. Turkish soldiers stationed in the area are equipped with electro-optic towers, night vision thermal cameras, a lighting system, and seismic sensors to prevent illegal crossings and ensure border security.
