Australian tourists preparing to visit Bali and Indonesia are set to experience significant adjustments as the nation shifts to a new system for various transactions. Bank Indonesia recently unveiled a digital payment system specifically designed for tourists heading to the popular destinations, marking a significant step towards a cashless environment. At Bali’s Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, tourists can now access the ‘Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack,’ including Indonesian SIM cards, mobile data, phone numbers, and chip-based electronic money through an e-wallet. This facilitates entry into the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard system, allowing for cashless payments via QR-code scanning and pre-paid e-wallets.
