Audi, Nissan, and Voyah have announced the formation of the Matrix Charging Interest Group (MCIG) to standardize conductive automatic charging. The technology is based on direct physical contact between a charging plate on the ground and a contact pad under the vehicle. According to the manufacturers, the efficiency of this solution reaches 99.8%, making it one of the most effective methods for charging electric vehicles. The system’s developer is the Austrian company Easelink, which has been testing the technology in real-world conditions since 2016. 66 electric taxis equipped with Matrix Charging were tested in Vienna and Graz, confirming its suitability for daily operation. Licenses for the technology are offered on terms that allow companies to adapt solutions to their own models.
