Before and after images of property that exploded in Tatuapé (SP)

CNN Brasil visited the property that suffered an explosion on Friday morning (14) following the incident on Thursday night (13) in Tatuapé, a neighborhood in the East Zone of São Paulo. According to the Civil Police, the location was illegally used as a storage for fireworks. The images display the current state of the destroyed house. Parts of the gates and roofs of the red residence are scattered everywhere and the ground is covered in debris, with a black car parked on-site.
The back part of the house shows an even worse state, making it difficult to identify what remains of the residence. An individual was found carbonized in the debris of the house.
The property that exploded in Tatuapé, East Zone of São Paulo, on Thursday night, was illegally used as a fireworks storage. The explosion left about 21 neighboring properties closed off, structures collapsed, and several parked vehicles damaged in the area. Among the damages, one person was found carbonized in the debris. The victim, a man suspected of illegally storing explosive devices inside, as confirmed by the Civil Police of São Paulo.
Ten individuals needed medical care due to the explosion, including the property owner who suffered head injuries and her son with minor injuries. An avenue was temporarily closed following the explosion for safety as the police and emergency services acted. According to CET, the road was fully reopened at around 3 a.m., with no detours in the vicinity. The area is being monitored and signs are in place.
The explosion on Thursday night occurred at Avenida Celso Garcia with Avenida Salim Farah Maluf. The fire service stated that eight units were dispatched to respond to the incident. A representative from a nearby plant shop stated that a significant portion of their establishment was affected, with suspicions of an explosive device or a clandestine deposit nearby.
The site of the explosion impacted the local power grid, which the Enel electric company will repair once the area is cleared by the fire department for safety. The case is classified as an explosion, environmental crime, and bodily harm at the 30th Police Department in Tatuapé. Investigations are ongoing to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident.
