The Mayor of Belo Horizonte, Álvaro Damião (União Brasil), announced on social media on Sunday (12/7) that, starting from December 14th, bus rides in the capital will be free on Sundays and holidays. In the video post, the city’s mayor stated, ‘This was the last Sunday that Belo Horizonte residents paid the fare.’ Damião mentioned, ‘For those who want to visit a friend or family member on Sundays but lack the money for the fare, or families wanting to enjoy the Municipal Park or the Hippie Fair, this was the last Sunday like this.’
