Drawing a parallel with ancient civilisations that disappeared from the face of the earth, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that Bharat is an ‘immortal civilisation,’ asserting that the world would ‘cease to exist if Hindus cease to exist.’ Speaking at an event in Manipur, Bhagwat said that while the civilisations of Yunaan (Greece), Misr (Egypt), and Roma perished, there is something in Bharat that has allowed the country and its civilisation to stand strong through the ages. ‘Bharat is the name of an immortal civilisation…We have created a network in our society because of which the Hindu community will always exist,’ the RSS chief remarked. ‘The world will cease to exist if Hindus cease to exist,’ he added. BJP leaders endorsed his views, saying that Hinduism is a tolerant religion and that its scriptures teach respect for all.
