The Bihar assembly elections saw the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leading in terms of votes, with the Mahagathbandhan alliance winning 202 seats. On the other hand, the BJP and JD(U) secured the most seats in the alliance with 89 and 85 seats respectively. Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) led by Chirag Paswan won 19 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) led by Jitan Ram Manjhi secured 5 seats, and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party led by Upendra Kushwaha won 4 seats.
The RJD contested in 144 seats and won in only 25, while Congress won in 6 out of the 61 seats it contested. The CPI(ML) secured two seats, while one seat went to CPI(M). Overall, the alliance was restricted to 35 seats. Despite scrutiny, the RJD received a high number of votes, winning in 23% of the constituencies, but saw a slight decline from the previous elections.
In the 144 seats contested by the RJD, a total of 11,546,055 votes were cast. However, the party managed to win only in 25 seats. Approximately 42 seats saw a marginal decrease in votes. On the other hand, the BJP saw an increase in votes, rising to 20.07% from 19.46% in 2020. Out of the 110 constituencies it contested, the BJP was limited to 101 seats in this election, receiving votes from 10,081,143 individuals. The JD(U) received 19.25% of the votes.
Conclusively, the Bihar election results reflect the varying fortunes of political parties, highlighting the RJD’s lead in votes, while the BJP and JD(U) gained more seats.
