BJP names Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate

THE BJP on Sunday announced Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan, a former president of the party’s Tamil Nadu unit and RSS veteran, as the ruling NDA’s candidate for the Vice-Presidential election to be held on September 9. A former Lok Sabha MP with a background in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Radhakrishnan’s nomination is seen as an attempt by the BJP to reach out to the southern states. The decision was taken at the BJP’s Parliamentary Board meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday.
