Boeing Faces Civil Trial Over Deadly Ethiopia Crash

After more than six years since a Boeing 737 Max jetliner crashed in Ethiopia, triggering an incident where all 157 individuals onboard lost their lives, the initial civil trial is on the verge of proceeding. Although Boeing has resolved a majority of the wrongful death lawsuits filed by victims’ families following the March 2019 crash, two outstanding cases are scheduled to commence before a federal court jury soon. The trial, situated in Chicago, is not anticipated to focus on the company’s liability, as Boeing has already admitted accountability for the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 disaster, along with a similar 737 Max crash in Indonesia that claimed 189 lives less than five months prior.
