CHICAGO — A federal court jury in Chicago ordered Boeing on Wednesday to pay more than $28 million to the family of a United Nations environmental worker who died in the 2019 crash of a 737 MAX jet in Ethiopia. The compensation marks the first verdict in the series of lawsuits following the 2019 crash and an earlier incident in Indonesia, which resulted in a total of 346 casualties. A settlement reached between the parties ensures that the family of Shikha Garg will receive $35.85 million, including the full award plus 26% interest. Boeing has agreed not to pursue an appeal, as confirmed by the family’s legal representatives.
