Bone Becomes the 5th Largest Rice Producer in Indonesia, District Head Appreciates Farmers

Bone – South Sulawesi’s Bone district has become the fifth-largest rice producer nationally. District Head Andi Asman Sulaiman has expressed his appreciation for the farmers for this accomplishment. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) presented at the National Food Security Coordination Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/29/2025), Bone ranks fifth nationally after producing 524,589 tons of rice. The top four areas consist of Indramayu, Banyuasin, Karawang, and Subang. ‘Alhamdulillah, Bone is among the top 5 highest rice producers in Indonesia. This achievement is the result of our farmers’ hard work,’ Andi Asman Sulaiman stated. Andi Asman mentioned that this achievement reinforces Bone’s position as one of the main food baskets in Indonesia. The abundant rice production is a result of the extensive agricultural land and the continuous hard work of the farmers, supported by the local government’s programs to improve agricultural facilities and infrastructure. ‘The local government will continue to support by providing fertilizers, superior seeds, and financing access for farmers. Bone will always be a productive area by strengthening agricultural innovation,’ he said. Andi Asman then revealed that a more massive strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector will be implemented, including expanding the application of IP 300 so that farmers can harvest up to three times a year evenly across all Bone regions. Additionally, the local government also promotes the downstreaming of the agricultural sector through mechanization and industrialization of export-based products. ‘We also aim to ensure that farmers’ harvests are spent in Bone, creating a larger economic turnover in the region,’ he explained.
