Botafogo has accepted Nottingham Forest’s proposal for Cuiabano, and now only awaits the left-back’s approval for the transfer to be finalized, as reported by “GE”. The British transfer window closes on Monday (9/1). Cuiabano is currently recovering from a left ankle sprain at Botafogo, with the expectation of being available for the return match against Vasco, post-FIFA date – if he remains with the team.
The left-back has expressed interest in playing in Europe, but earlier this year, his move to Nottingham Forest faced salary issues, according to the reports. In addition to Nottingham Forest, Brighton also tried to sign Cuiabano, making offers of around €9 million (approximately R$57 million at the time).
Cuiabano is under contract with Botafogo until December 2027, and the club was trying to renew his contract with a salary increase. The new Botafogo’s number 6 is 22 years old and has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 60 matches for the club.
