During a historic visit to Malaysia, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim signed cooperation agreements aiming to enhance and diversify trade and investments between the two countries. The focus is on strategic sectors such as energy, science, technology, and innovation. This visit marks the first presence of a Brazilian president in Malaysia in 30 years, elevating the bilateral relationship to a new level. Anwar Ibrahim emphasized his personal friendship with Lula and the shared values between the two countries. He praised Lula’s leadership in representing the working class, caring for the poor and underprivileged, and opposing global atrocities with dignity. Ibrahim commended the Brazilian president’s leadership and highlighted that the meeting strengthens the partnership between Brazil and Malaysia in trade, technology, education, and culture. ‘This is a meeting between friends who share beliefs and ideas. I am certain that our countries will work together as partners in different areas,’ said Anwar Ibrahim. He also expressed gratitude for Brazil’s hospitality in international forums like BRICS and reiterated the importance of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) being held in the country.
