Brazilian Federal Police Seizes $200 Million Jet Belonging to Vorcaro

The Brazilian Federal Police seized a jet attributed to banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, estimated at around $200 million by investigators. The aircraft is a Falcon 7X model manufactured by Dassault in 2010. The plane, seized in Minas Gerais, is registered under Viking Participações, Vorcaro’s company. Vorcaro was arrested by the PF on Monday night in São Paulo as he was preparing to board a flight abroad. His partner, Augusto Lima, was also detained. The banker’s lawyers deny any attempt to flee, claiming he was traveling to Dubai to finalize the purchase of Master. However, investigators suggest the private jet was bound for Malta in an apparent bid to evade arrest in Brazil. Vorcaro was apprehended at Guarulhos airport in São Paulo. The operation, named Compliance Zero by the PF, aims to combat the issuance of counterfeit credit notes by financial institutions within the Brazilian National Financial System. Federal agents executed five pre-trial detention warrants, two temporary arrest warrants, and 25 search and seizure warrants, in addition to various precautionary measures in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Bahia, and the Federal District. Besides Vorcaro and Augusto Lima, Luiz Antônio Bull, the bank’s risk director, Alberto Felix de Oliveira Neto, executive superintendent of treasury, and Ângelo Antônio Ribeiro da Silva, a Master partner, were also arrested. The temporary detainees include André Felipe de Oliveira Seixas Maia, director of consultancy Tirreno and Cartos financial institution partner, and Henrique Souza e Silva Peretto, also linked to the FinTech. The companies have yet to comment on the arrests. The PF also confirmed the freezing of accounts totaling $12.2 billion and seized numerous luxury cars, artworks, watches, and approximately $1.6 million in cash.
