Even though included in the list of exceptions to the 50% surtax imposed by the United States, the Brazilian orange juice sector is facing significant losses. The immediate impact is estimated at R$ 1.54 billion, due to the economic unviability of exporting by-products, which received the maximum tariff and generated US$ 177.8 million in the previous harvest (approximately R$ 973.6 million). Added to this is the effect of the 10% tariff on fresh juice, calculated at US$ 103.6 million (R$ 566.7 million) based on volumes registered by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex/Mdic) for the 2024/25 season. The combination of tariffs and price deflation could raise total sector losses to over R$ 2.9 billion.
