Brazilian Soap Opera Star Accidentally Drinks Gasoline and Ends Up in Hospital: ‘Shortness of Breath’

Leandro Lima, a soap opera star in Vale Tudo and Pantanal, TV Globo’s shows, had to go to the hospital after accidentally drinking gasoline on Monday (10). The incident occurred while he was transferring fuel from a motorcycle to a Beetle using a hose at home. Taking to social media, he explained he had performed the maneuver several times, transferring gasoline from one tank to another without any accidents. It all started when Leandro Lima noticed his Beetle was out of gas, so he decided to use a hose to transfer the fuel from the motorcycle, which had a full tank. ‘I pulled, and nothing came out, but then I lowered the hose, as those who have done this know, and that’s when the gasoline stayed halfway. So, I gave it a big pull on the hose and ended up swallowing and choking on the gasoline,’ he said. He mentioned feeling shortness of breath and suspected it could be an allergic reaction. Leandro Lima went to the hospital by himself, not needing an ambulance. There, the medical team kept him under observation to ensure the substance hadn’t entered his organs, such as the lungs. ‘I already took the exam, but most likely, no, my choking was more about expelling it, and we concluded it shouldn’t have been anything serious,’ he pointed out. After thanking his followers for their concerns, Leandro issued a warning. ‘Do not drink gasoline. If you need to refuel your car using another container, take precautions and be safe, it’s the best way,’ he advised. The actor mentioned he would be discharged soon, after finishing the intravenous drip and receiving the test results. See photos.
