Brazil’s Exports to Argentina on the Rise Again: Can They Offset the Impact of the US Tariff Increase?

With the alarm bell sounding for exports to the United States due to the tariff increase announced by President Donald Trump, Brazil’s foreign trade sector will have some relief in its exchanges with Argentina. Sales from Brazil to Argentina surged 53.2% in value in the first seven months of the year, compared to the same period in 2024. This growth represents a recovery, after Brazilian exports to the Argentine market plummeted 17.6% in 2024 due to the recession in the neighboring country. Despite this positive trend, the $10.780 billion sold to Argentina until July this year is still below the levels recorded in the first seven months of 2023.
