Brazil and South Africa’s cooperation received a boost in Johannesburg during a meeting between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The information was reported by RT Brazil, which followed the developments of the meeting held on the sidelines of the upcoming G20 summit in the South African city. According to the Palácio do Planalto, Lula invited Ramaphosa to visit Brazil in early 2026 to participate in a comprehensive business seminar between the two countries. The President emphasized that ‘the trade balance does not correspond to the size of the two economies,’ a diagnosis that they both agree needs urgent attention. Ramaphosa expressed immediate and positive interest in Brazil’s policies on social inclusion and promotion of food security. The South African president accepted the invitation and expressed interest in learning about Brazil’s programs, especially in combating hunger and strengthening food security. South Africa’s interest in Brazilian programs, particularly in combating hunger and enhancing food security, reinforces Brazil’s global role in these areas and underscores the importance of the social agenda within the extended BRICS framework. The international recognition of COP30 and the South African G20 signals the growing importance and influence of these joint efforts.
