United Nations: Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM), S Jaishankar, emphasized the need for BRICS to combat the challenges facing the global trade system. Jaishankar highlighted the impact of protectionism, tariff fluctuations, and non-tariff barriers on trade flows. He urged BRICS to safeguard the multilateral trading system from such threats. In addition to addressing the BRICS foreign ministers, Jaishankar participated in the meeting of IBSA, a group comprising India, Brazil, and South Africa known for their democratic values.
