The general commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, stated on Sunday that if the United Arab Emirates is part of the Quad group, Khartoum considers the group ‘not free of responsibility’. He mentioned, ‘The whole world has seen that the UAE is the party supporting the rebels against the Sudanese state.’ Speaking with senior army officers, he expressed Sudan’s refusal to accept the UAE as a mediator in the conflict.
Al-Burhan criticized Massad Boulos, the US president’s senior adviser for Middle East and Africa affairs, for suggesting Muslim Brotherhood influence in the army. He argued that the UAE promotes this narrative to influence the Americans, Saudis, and Egyptians, calling it ‘a blatant lie’. The commander-in-chief accused the Rapid Support Forces of atrocities against Sudanese civilians, rejecting support from some countries for these forces. He emphasized Sudan’s stance on not being threatened or dictated to, asserting the strength of the Sudanese people and their army.
Reaffirming his trust in the army’s personnel, Al-Burhan highlighted their determination to reclaim territory in Kordofan and Darfur. He emphasized the army’s commitment to confront foreign interference and fight for the dignity and survival of the Sudanese people. The general commander’s words reflected a dedication to honorable and dignified battle, emphasizing the importance of remaining true to the right path for ultimate victory.
Al-Burhan’s address aimed to inspire confidence in the army’s capability for reform and self-restructuring. He condemned any acts of genocide or ethnic cleansing by the Rapid Support Forces, rejecting the notion of the UAE as a neutral party in the crisis. The general commander’s resolute tone emphasized Sudan’s willingness to engage in peaceful dialogue while retaining its sovereignty and rejecting external impositions.
As the Sudanese Armed Forces leader, Al-Burhan’s speech underscored the army’s readiness to defend the nation without compromising on principles of honor and dignity. He depicted a united front against external influences, stressing the importance of reclaiming lost territories and ensuring victory for the Sudanese people. Al-Burhan’s message conveyed a sense of determination and resilience in the face of challenges, signaling the army’s resolve to safeguard Sudan’s integrity and sovereignty.
