Bus and Truck Collision Leaves 11 Dead and 46 Injured in MT

The crash between a passenger bus and a truck left 11 dead and 46 injured at km 648 of BR-163, in Lucas do Rio Verde, 360 km from Cuiabá, on Friday night (8). The Nova Rota do Oeste, the concessionaire that manages the stretch, was called at 9:40 pm to attend to the incident. According to the concessionaire, four rescue teams, the Fire Department, and an ambulance from Nova Canaã were on-site and confirmed the deaths of the victims, all of whom were traveling on the bus. Among the injured, 26 were in moderate condition, 11 in serious condition, and eight with minor injuries. The truck driver was also taken in serious condition. The victims assisted by the concessionaire were taken to São Lucas Hospital in Lucas do Rio Verde.
