After the Planalto Palace demanded explanations, the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Carlos Vieira, will present to President Lula, next week, the reasons that supported the public bank’s project to create its own bet platform. The meeting is expected to take place next week, as soon as Lula returns from his trip to Asia. Behind the scenes, one of the bank’s arguments is that some bets are made on foreign sites without authorization to operate and do not pay taxes in the country. The Caixa project aims to attract this market with clear rules, generate revenue, and offer safety to bettors, according to the president’s aides. The proposal was approved by the Finance Ministry, focusing on formal and technical aspects rather than political matters.
