Canada and Mexico: USTR Warns Against Being Export Hubs for China

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer emphasized the importance of not allowing Canada and Mexico to be utilized as export hubs for countries like China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Speaking at a conference in Washington, Greer expressed concern over this practice already taking place, particularly in Mexico. He acknowledged the challenges in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement negotiated during President Trump’s first term but mentioned that certain measures, such as tariffs on foreign automobiles, were helping to address these issues.
