The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) released data on new car sales for October 2025. Last month, a total of 75,992 cars were sold, marking a 30% increase compared to September, when 58,490 cars were sold. This made October the month with the highest sales volume so far this year. The sales surge was attributed to consumers rushing to buy imported electric cars following the announcement of the 2026 budget, which did not extend tax breaks on imported electric vehicles set to expire at the end of December. Additionally, aggressive pre-holiday marketing campaigns by car brands also played a role.
