An accident involving a sedan killed a three-year-old child and injured six others on BR-381 in Igarapé (MG), in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, on Sunday morning (8/24). According to Arteris Fernão Dias, the company responsible for the stretch, the vehicle crashed into a barrier at kilometer 518.9, at 6:12 a.m. The Ford Fiesta with license plate from Belém (PA) was found in the middle of the road, damaged in the front and left side. The left and center lanes heading towards São Paulo are blocked. Traffic is flowing on the right lane, but drivers are facing congestion in the Divulgação/PRF area. The car was occupied by three adults and four children, according to the Federal Highway Police (PRF). The six surviving victims received first aid and were taken to the Municipal Hospital in Betim (MG). Three of them are in critical condition, while the other three are in moderate condition. Teams from Arteris, Samu, and PRF are at the scene. The forensic investigation is awaited on-site. There is no estimated time for the road to reopen yet.
