Car Prices in Russia Reach Record Highs

In October 2025, prices for new cars in Russia reached historic highs, according to data from the ‘Autostat’ agency reported in the newspaper ‘Vedomosti’. The average weighted cost (price considering market share) of a new car increased by eight percent year-on-year and by two percent compared to September, reaching 3.43 million rubles. Growth rates were at their lowest since 2021, with a six percent increase, whereas in previous years, the figure rose by 18-24 percent. According to the CEO of ‘Autostat’, Sergei Tselikov, this year the cost of cars is being driven by news of changes in the recycling fee for imported cars and its upcoming indexation. Starting December 1, 2025, the base rate of the fee will be determined based on the type and engine capacity, with the coefficient based on power. From 2026, indexation will be carried out annually, increasing by 10-20 percent from January 1.
