CBF releases audios from Flamengo x Palmeiras match: ‘No impact for push’

The CBF released on Sunday night (19) the VAR audios from Flamengo 3 x 2 Palmeiras, a match valid for the 29th round of the Brasileirão. The major controversy at Maracanã happened just three minutes into the first half. Palmeiras players claimed for a possible penalty after contact by Jorginho on defender Gustavo Gómez’s back. On the field, referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio let the game continue. Shortly after, he was assisted by Caio Max, in charge of VAR for the match.
Pra mim essa mão aqui é só uma mão de referência, não tem impacto. Wilton, pode seguir. Os dois braços dele estão estendidos e não fazem a flexão com impacto para o empurrão.

The incident that led to Flamengo’s second goal was also reviewed by the video refereeing. Pedro was fouled after being tripped inside the box by Bruno Fuchs. Palmeiras’ concerns revolve around two plays. The São Paulo team complained about a foul by Danilo on Vitor Roque, still in midfield, and on the push by Pedro on the Palmeiras defender, prior to the penalty incident.
‘It was checked for two possible fouls. At the start of the play, not part of the attacking phase, and then Pedro has a clash with the defender. The penalty is confirmed. The defender puts himself in front of the attacker, who tries to get away, they clash and he drops his body. Then he commits the penalty by stepping on his foot inside the box. The penalty is confirmed,’ Caio Max informed.
