Central Meteorological Observatory issues the first red alert for typhoon this year. Guangdong will upgrade its emergency response to level II

Typhoon ‘Medm’ landed in Maoming Dianbai to the coastal areas of Hainan on Thursday. The Central Meteorological Observatory issued the first red alert for a typhoon this year at 18:00 on the 4th of September. At 17:00 on the same day, the center of this year’s 21st typhoon ‘Medm’ was located about 520 kilometers east-southeast of Xunwen County, Zhanjiang City. The maximum wind near the center reached force 12 (35 meters/second) and the intensity continued to strengthen, moving further towards the western coast of Guangdong. The Guangdong Flood Control Headquarters upgraded its emergency response level from level IV to level II at 9:00 am on the 4th of September.
