Challenges in Evacuating 7 Workers Trapped in Underground Landslide at PT Freeport

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has revealed challenges in evacuating 7 workers trapped in an underground landslide in Mimika Regency, Central Papua. Wet and still moving landslide materials are hindering the rescue team in the field. The incident happened at the Grasberg Block Cave mine, adding complexity to the rescue operation. The wet and unstable conditions of the landslide are making it difficult for rescuers to safely reach the 7 trapped workers. Despite the difficulties, the rescue process is still ongoing as teams work tirelessly to ensure the safety of the workers. PT Freeport Indonesia is coordinating efforts with local authorities to address the challenges and expedite the evacuation process. The safety and well-being of the trapped workers remain the top priority for all involved in the operation.
