A Chatham teen, who travelled to Alexandria, Egypt, earlier this month to compete in the Miss Eco Teen International Pageant, finished third runner-up overall among a top field of contestants. Elise Moccia, 15, represented Canada with grace and confidence, earning her top ranking by winning first place for best eco dress and placing in the Top 8 in resort wear, competing against contestants from more than 20 countries. Competing against a field of exceptionally talented young women, Elise’s achievements highlight her dedication, hard work, and passion for environmental awareness, as stated in a media release. Moccia’s handcrafted eco dress, designed to showcase sustainability and creativity, earned top honors, reflecting her commitment to promoting eco-conscious fashion and responsible global citizenship. Elise expressed her gratitude for representing Canada and forming lifelong friendships with inspiring girls from around the world during this incredible experience. She also received praise for her outstanding representation of Canada, sportsmanship, and positive spirit throughout the competition from pageant organizers and supporters. Elise’s success on the world stage as third runner-up is considered a remarkable accomplishment for her and the country, embodying the values of intelligence, kindness, and determination that Miss Eco Teen Canada stands for. Continued advocacy for children with disabilities and a platform to raise awareness and inspire youth to make a difference in their communities are among Elise’s future plans, documented on Instagram at @elisemoccia.
