Chevron Considers Acquisition of Foreign Assets from Lukoil

American company Chevron Corp. is considering the prospect of purchasing foreign assets from Lukoil, as reported by Reuters citing five sources familiar with the matter. Previously, Chevron’s interest in the Russian company’s assets was unknown. The American corporation stated they would not comment on the deal. Meanwhile, Reuters had previously reported that the US investment fund Carlyle is also exploring the acquisition and may apply for a US license to begin negotiations. On November 14, Lukoil announced that several potential buyers are interested in the company’s assets. A decision will only be announced after final agreements are reached and necessary approvals from regulators are obtained.
