Child dies after car with seven people overturns in MG

A 4-year-old child died after a vehicle with seven people overturned on Fernão Dias highway, at km 520, in the Igarapé Mountain range, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. The accident occurred towards São Paulo, around 7 am this Sunday (8/24). According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), four occupants of the vehicle were injured. They were attended by medical teams from Samu and Arteris Fernão Dias, the highway’s concessionaire. The car involved in the accident is a Ford Fiesta with plates from Belém (Pará).
Additionally, the driver stated that he lost control of the vehicle and hit the central guardrail. The vehicle overturned and had its front part destroyed. Firefighters were also called to the scene.
The traffic needed to be partly blocked for the victims’ assistance. As of the publication of this report, the left and central lanes remained closed, with only the right lane open for vehicle flow.
