China Dominates ITTF Mixed Team World Cup with Wins over Egypt and South Korea Triumphs over Chinese Taipei

China displayed dominant performances at the 2025 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu. In their match against Egypt, China secured a resounding 8-0 victory. The Chinese paddlers, including Kuai Man, Lin Shidong, Sun Yingsha, and Wang Chuqin, showcased exceptional skill and teamwork, winning key matches in the mixed doubles, women’s singles, and men’s singles categories.

On the other hand, South Korea faced a tough challenge against Chinese Taipei at the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup. Despite a strong start by Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching in the mixed doubles, South Korea’s Kim Na-yeong and Park Gang-hyeon fought back in the subsequent matches, eventually clinching a hard-fought 8-6 victory over Chinese Taipei.

In a thrilling showdown, South Korea’s Park and Oh Jun-sung emerged victorious in the decisive fifth match against Lin and Kao Cheng-jui of Chinese Taipei, securing the hard-earned win for their team. The victory highlighted South Korea’s resilience and determination in overcoming a formidable opponent in Chinese Taipei.

Additionally, other matches on Monday saw Hong Kong, China defeating Chile 8-2, and Japan emerging victorious against India with an 8-4 scoreline. As the tournament progresses, China is set to face Chile in the upcoming matches, continuing their quest for success in the prestigious ITTF Mixed Team World Cup.

The ITTF Mixed Team World Cup features a unique competition format, starting with mixed doubles followed by women’s singles, men’s singles, and potentially men’s and women’s doubles matches. Each team match consists of three games, with the first team to secure eight game victories declared the winner.

Since its inception in 2023, the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup has grown in significance, especially with the inclusion of the mixed team event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Teams participating in the tournament are using it as a crucial platform to fine-tune their strategies and preparation for the Olympic Games.
