Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the UN Climate Change Summit via video on Wednesday (September 24), unveiling China’s climate goals for 2035. Firstly, the net greenhouse gas emissions are to be reduced by 7% to 10% from peak levels. Moreover, the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption is set to increase to over 30% of total energy consumption. Additionally, the total installed capacity of wind and solar power generation is expected to increase sixfold from the 2020 levels.
Xi Jinping stated, ‘A green and low-carbon transition is the trend of the times.
