Chinese Team to Explore Ancient History of Egypt’s Sekhmet Temple Ruins

A team led by the Shanghai Museum will collaborate in an archaeological research project with Egypt starting in October at the Sekhmet Temple ruins, located on the west bank of the Nile River. The temple forms part of the ancient Memphis archaeological site. This joint initiative aims to delve into the origins of ancient Egyptian writing, social structures, and religion, shedding light on the rich history of the region. The ruins of Sekhmet Temple, dating back 5,100 years, hold valuable clues to the cultural heritage of Egypt. The partnership between the Chinese and Egyptian teams signifies a significant step in understanding the historical significance of the temple complex and its role in ancient Egyptian society.
