China has begun to inform car manufacturers in Brazil that it will resume the shipment of chips necessary for vehicle production here and around the world. According to Igor Calvet, president of Anfavea (National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers), the information was relayed by representatives of the Chinese government on Friday (7).
“On Friday, vehicle manufacturers began to be informed by suppliers that the authorization for chip imports is being gradually resumed. With this, the risk of shutdown in our factories has decreased,” he said.
“Two factors contributed to this: China’s release of chip imports for companies operating in Brazil and with factories in Chinese territory, and the special license granted by the Chinese to Brazilian companies,” he detailed to the column.
“The situation has improved, but it is important to note that it has not yet been normalized. If there is no further interruption in imports, our industry is less likely to be affected.”
