The arrival of a cold front late on Sunday and in the early hours of Monday brought heavy rain to various regions of Rio Grande do Sul and localized storms with strong wind gusts and hail, confirming the alerts from MetSul Meteorology. One of the hardest-hit regions by the storms was the Vale do Taquari. A strong storm hit the valley early Monday morning, causing roof damage, fallen trees, and power outages in several municipalities. In Lajeado, a large tree fell near the bus station and a commercial building in the Montanha neighborhood had its roof ripped off, leaving part of the region without power after the roof tiles spread across the street and hit the power lines. The Lajeado Fire Department and the energy cooperative Certel worked from early morning to isolate the affected area and make repairs, with no reports of injuries, as reported by Radio Independente.
